The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC), at a meeting held on October 18, 2022, lifted the restrictions on tricycles in Bawku.
According to the Council, “ the temporary ban on the operation of tricycles is lifted with immediate effect in Bawku and its environs”.
This follows complaints expressed by employees, particularly those in the public sector, who complained that the prohibition made it difficult for them to commute to work.
On January 23, 2022, the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC), put a ban on the riding of motors in the Bawku Municipality in order to strengthen security boundaries in the area.
In a statement published by the Council, it read that the Council “ has examined the security situation and its volatile nature in the Bawku Township and with immediate effect imposes a ban on riding of motorbikes in the Bawku Municipality”.
