BECE: A TOTAL OF 552, 276 CANDIDATES SIT FOR EXAMS TODAY

Candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are to commence their exam on Monday, October 17th, 2022.

A total of 552, 276 students, which includes 276, 988 males and 275, 288 females, across 2,023 centres across the country.

According to a statement from the PRO of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Cassandra Ampofo, it is expected of candidates to go by all rules and regulations engulfing the examination to avoid being penalised or facing the authorities.

“We wish to remind all candidates, parents, invigilators, and supervisors to appreciate the fact that the basis of success in life is honesty and hard work and therefore urge all candidates and stakeholders to eschew all forms of examination malpractices before , during and after the exams and to indicate that all cases of reported examination malpractices will swiftly be investigated and dealt with decisively.” she added.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) urged all invigilators to be vigilant to ensure that all candidates abide by the conduct of the examination.

“We are hopeful that the invigilators would not condone exam malpractices and also make the exam hitch-free.” a statement from the association read.

The association further wished the candidates success in the examination and asked them to be disciplined by not engaging in any form of malpractice as they justify their inclusion.

According to the association, the purpose of the statement was “ to congratulate all candidates on the occasion of the writing of the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and also wish them a successful examination. 

The statement continued, “We encourage you all not to indulge in examination malpractice to save yourself from unforeseen embarrassments, trauma, and anxiety.” 

This year, students from both private and public schools are taking the test simultaneously.
