Liz Truss, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announced her resignation as Prime Minister on Thursday, October 20th, 2022.
In front of Downing Street, she declared that she no longer trusted the conservative party and that she would quit the next week.
Truss is said to be the shortest-serving British Prime Minister in history after serving for 44 days.
She claimed in her statement to have informed His Majesty, King Charles, of her resignation.
"I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party," she said.
"I recognise though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," she added.
On September 6, 2022, Trus was officially sworn in. Following that, Kwasi Kwarteng, the finance minister, was fired, among other matters.
