I watched the exchanges of pleasantries at the forecourt of the former president's office. The clergy had visited and I understand they came for a dialogue on the E-levy.
I am writing this from the Attah Mills court complex, where members of Parliament are running from one court room to the other, making sure they give their undivided support to their members facing trial today. I will be surprised if the clergy is not aware of the reasons we are here.
The court was silent when Mr Tsikata stood on his feet. I looked round to see who else was in court. Though I didn't see you, I saw Senior lawyers, including 2 former attorney generals. Members and leadership of Parliament fully present ably led by Hon Haruna Iddrisu. Powerful delegation of National executives led by Chairman Ofosu Ampofo amongst others following proceedings with rapt attention.
I have always feared for the lives of our members of Parliament, looking at how aggressive the NPP leader Nana Addo wants to railroad the E-LEVY. I hope this piece, finds the clergy well.
Many have asked if the hang Parliament is a blessing or a curse. My simple answer is, IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU STAND!!!
It may be a curse for a tyrant, a thief, a dictator or a person who knows nothing about negotiation and how to appeal to people's conscience.
But to the wise, it is a blessing offered citizens to be better served.
I don't know how proceedings went yesterday at His excellency John Mahama's office and infact I don't know the prayers that was said for the nation. I just feel the clergy has taken a huge task for the government and their impartiality will be accessed with eagle eyes. Lest I forget, I didn't see prof Martey in the delegation. Hope all is well with him.
I know these trials are E-levy induced trials, targeted at reducing our numbers in Parliament. May I humbly borrow the words of Rev Sam Kuranchi Ankrah on Sunday when he prayed for Bobie Ansah and Mensah Thompson at the royal house chapel. THIS TOO SHALL PASS
